New legislation for chillers

  • 09 April 2018

A highly important aspect of guaranteeing food safety is a closed refrigeration chain. This is not only to preserve the freshness and quality of food, but also to satisfy legal requirements.

One of these laws is the Ecodesign directive (2009/125/EG). In it, the EU establishes ecological requirements for the energy-efficiency of products. As of 1 January 2018, the section that applies to areas such as the purchase of process chillers enters into force. If you have questions about how this legislation will impact your business, how to use it to your advantage and what you need to pay attention to when purchasing a chiller, ICS Cool Energy can consult with you.

Before purchasing a new chiller, it is essential that you know the capacity, energy consumption and options regarding your current system. This is because even temporary, unexpected situations can pose a risk to food safety. Examples of this are refrigeration systems that have to be replaced, have too little cooling capacity for the summer or the occasional expansion of storage space. ICS Cool Energy is happy to support you in these matters as well. “Thanks to our extensive European rental fleet that consists of a variety of chillers, rooftop systems, air handlers, mobile air conditioning units and more, we always have a suitable, temporary solution available for you.”
